Mr. Karamouzis joined the Firm as a partner in 1998.  Mr. Karamouzis began his legal career as an associate in the litigation department of Shearman & Sterling, a leading internationally recognized law firm based in New York, where he worked from 1989 through 1994, and where he was a colleague of Siobhan E. Moran. He handled corporate and commercial litigation matters including contract, banking, insurance, securities, mergers and acquisitions, antitrust, bankruptcy, construction arbitration, professional liability and real estate matters.

During that time, Mr. Karamouzis successfully tried several cases to verdict in both jury and bench trials, garnered significant motion and deposition experience, and handled numerous sensitive corporate internal investigations.

In 1995, Mr. Karamouzis became associated with another well respected New York law firm, where he continued his commercial practice, with an emphasis on employment law on behalf of management, including matters involving employment contracts, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1991, as amended, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act and ERISA.

At MORAN • KARAMOUZIS LLP, Mr. Karamouzis has continued an active litigation and trial practice concentrating his practice on financial services litigation and employment law.   Most recently, he headed a team that resolved a “hybrid” FLSA collective and state class action wage and hour case involving a putative nationwide class with over 2,000 class members, prior to the commencement of litigation.

Mr. Karamouzis served a four-year elected term as a Village Trustee of the Incorporated Village of Rockville Centre.  Rockville Centre is a community with more than 25,000 residents, its own Police and Fire Departments, electric and water utilities and an annual budget in excess of $31 million.  As a member of the five-member Village Board of Trustees, Mr. Karamouzis was responsible for enacting local laws, establishing the annual budget and setting policy for the Village.
